[Japanese and Chinese scroll reproductions collection. Fine Arts Library, Harvard University], 1890-

Collection of reproductions of scrolls representing around 170 titles of well known Japanese and Chinese works found in museums in North America, Japan, Taiwan, and China. Japanese reproductions are largely from Heian or Kamakura period narrative picture scrolls, many of which are documented in Nihon emaki taisei or Nihon emakimono zenshū. The Chinese reproductions are mainly from Ming or Qing period paintings currently in collections of the National Palace Museums in Taiwan or China. A majority of the reproductions are from publishing houses in early 20th century Japan. Reproductions include black and white collotypes, color woodblock prints, early photographic prints. Collection included in Fine Arts Library's Rubel Asiatic Research Collection.
